Fabric & Sizing

What size should I order?

What size should I order? Great question! Sizing charts by product can be found on each product page. And we get it, our measurements are a little different than what you might be used to. All measurements are of the garment, and are not body measurements. We suggest, you pull our your favorite fitting item that is similar to the one you are looking at, and measure it flat on a table. All waist and hip/hem measurements are half measurements of the garment, not a circumference. Still need additional help? Reach out at [email protected], and we would be happy to help!

How do I care for my Woolly stuff?

We’ve got you covered with some portraitplaceonline wisdom! Here are some simple basics of care:

  • Wash: Pop your Woolly in the machine on a cold cycle with similar colors. But be careful—fine merino fibers can snag on zippers, buckles, and velcro. Avoid washing with jeans, jackets, backpacks, or any harsh fabrics.
  • Dry: Tumble dry on low or go au naturel and hang it up to dry.
  • Avoid Bleach: Skip the bleach—it’s not a friend to wool fibers.
  • No Iron Needed
  • Pilling: Wool may pill over time, but turning your garments inside out before washing can help slow this down.
  • Air Dry Option: For the air dry lovers out there, lay your wet Woolly on a towel, roll it up like a burrito to gently squeeze out extra moisture, then hang it up for a breezy air dry!

Your Woolly is all about easy care, so just follow these tips and enjoy the long wear of your Woolly!

What should I avoid when caring for Merino Wool?

When caring for Merino Wool, there are a few things you should avoid to maintain the quality and longevity of the fabric.

Fine Merino fibers are delicate and can easily snag on zippers, buckles, and velcro. It's important to be mindful of this and avoid wearing Merino Wool clothing in situations where it might come into contact with these items.

When washing Merino Wool, it’s best to keep it separate from harsh fabrics such as jeans or jackets as these can cause friction and damage the fibers. Additionally, avoid using harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners; instead, opt for a mild, wool-specific detergent.

While some Merino Wool items can be tumble dried on a low setting, air drying is generally safer to prevent potential damage from heat or friction in the dryer. When storing Merino Wool, choose a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and consider using cedar balls or lavender sachets to deter moths.

Lastly, if your Merino Wool garments require ironing, use a low heat setting and protect the fabric with a cloth between the iron and the wool, or opt for steaming to remove wrinkles safely.

By following these guidelines, you can keep your Merino Wool items looking and feeling great for years to come.
